Amazon Dunstable Celebrates Pride with Carnival Arts Charity
UK Centre for Carnival Arts has received a £1,000 donation from the team at the Amazon fulfilment centre in Dunstable.
Alongside the donation, we were invited to the Amazon fulfilment centre in Dunstable to take part in the Amazon team’s on-site Pride parade. We also assisted in the design of the Amazon team’s costumes and celebrated the day with music and treats.
Speaking on the event, Omer Kartal, General Manager from Amazon in Dunstable, said:
“It was a pleasure welcoming the team from the UK Centre for Carnival Arts on site for our Pride parade. Our team couldn’t have been more impressed by the costumes created by the charity, so in return, wanted to give a donation so the charity can continue to support the carnival arts sector and impact others.”
Katarzyna Lacorne, an employee from Amazon in Dunstable who nominated the charity for support and attended the Pride parade, said,
“Everyone had such a great time at the Pride parade thanks to the help of the UK Centre for Carnival of Arts. I was blown away at the detail they had put into our costumes, and I’m so pleased we can show our support with this donation.”
Claudette Whittingham, UKCCA Director said,
“I’d like to thank everyone at Amazon for their warm welcome and support of our work. The team really enjoyed the trip to Amazon in Dunstable and had so much fun at the Pride parade.”
The donation to the UK Centre for Carnival Arts was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.
Alongside donations, Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than six million healthy breakfasts to families in England.
